After a break of some time and a change of rules

Hi All

After a break of some time, the blog is active again. I have been bitten by the Bolt Action bug and I am now working on converting the Kokoda campaigfn into the Bolt action format.

An overview of the campaign follows

The rules for the Kokoda Campaign 1942 are divided into five sections. Each section following on to the next, allowing players to easily access the information and mechanisms required to be able to play the campaign.

Some of the information provided is designed to place the campaign within a historical context giving the player a small understanding of the issues and peculiarities that faced the troops on ground who fought the campaign from 1942 to 1943.

It is recommended that players do their own research into the campaign to give a flavour to what they are playing.

The following are the rule sections

(1) Campaign Introduction

(2) Campaign Phase Overview

(3) Historical Formations

(4) Campaign Points System

Campaign Introduction

The Kokoda Campaign 1942 is designed to enable players to refight minor actions that occurred within the major battles of the Kokoda campaign using Bolt action rules with 28mm figures.

The campaign is divided into three distinct phases. Each phase can be played as stand alone mini campaigns. Players may also opt to play individual battles within each phase. Some players may wish to take on the grand campaign and play all the phases and battles from July 1942 to January 1943.

Each scenario within the campaign will have a listed maximum point value per side which players will be able to purchase units as per the normal method of troop selection.

Each scenario within each phase will have a list of allowable purchases as well as a default army list should players want to just play the game. The default list will be drawn from historical orders of battle.

For force construction allowable purchases will comply with the army lists available from Warlord games at the time and individual scenarios will have notes as to what may or may not be selected based on historical allocation of forces.

Some specialised units such as the Papuan Infantry Battalion list will compliment the Warlord games lists. Where there is no army list covering the forces by default units may be purchased from the core rule book.
